Martynas Levickis – Lithuanian born young classical accordionist. He has been playing accordion since 3 years old and started serious studies at age of 8 with Marytė Markevičienė in Šiauliai Conservatoire. Martynas has won multiple prizes at the international competitions in Lithuania, the USA, Italy, France, Netherlands, Poland, Estonia and Belarus. In 2004 Martynas was the first accordionist to be awarded Lithuanian Queen Morta prize. Moreover, he has been given honorable mention and prizes by Lithuanian President and head of Parliament. Martynas has performed alongside several Lithuanian chamber orchestras in the most popular international festivals. In 2007 Martynas has premiered concerto for accordion, xylophone and chamber orchestra by Lithuanian composer Algirdas Bružas. Also he successfully presented a new piece by London city university composer S. Jellett in 2008. Martynas has worked with BBC concert orchestra, BBC Philharmonic orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony orchestra, conducted by most famous conductors, such as V. Gergiev and Ch. Hazelwood. He also has featured in the popular British TV show “The One Show”. Martynas was a semifinalist in Lithuania’s got talent show 2009. In summer 2009 he toured the USA performing in Chicago, St.Louis and Memphis. There he also won multiple prizes in AAA international accordion competition in Memphis, including the composition contest where his piece “The Quiver I” was awarded and is going to be published in near future. Martynas has recorded several soundtracks for short movies.
Martynas Levickis has been selected for the Park Lane Group concert series 2011 in Purcell room in London. In addition, he is going to perform his own debut recital in London Barbican centre in October 2010.
